Saltwater

Dizzily keep confronting possibilities
a head spinning like a globe
that's been cursed,
there's nothing worse than perpetual motion
but I can't quite make up my mind
on just where I should go
Sharpen my claws and lunge at their throats
Take a shot at not being alone
And take two more for missing the shore
The waves rearing up to spit saltwater
that I'm sure kissed your fingertips
Half a thousand miles away

Don't be cold again
Hold back the winds
Anchor your feet in the sand
a sailor's rope becoming the shackles for our hands
Wrists straining against the twine
keeping our paths aligned, and foiling former plans

make believe
we've snuck through window panes and filthy screens
only to find the street lights flickering
Forging a losing battle with the darkness
Could the future come any quicker?
Would I still have ended up lonely
if I had always been alone?
